Regional Age Groups Report

Ten swimmers from BBSC spent their Bank Holiday weekend in Norwich, at the East Region Age Group Championships. Sophie Clerkin competed in six events, making four finals, with her best finish a fourth place in the 50m Freestyle, agonisingly close to a medal. She also made the finals of the 100m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke. Thomas Underdown had a packed schedule, swimming in the 50m, 100m, and 200m Breaststroke and the 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke.

In the 50m Breaststroke there were strong swims from Hollie Heighes and Ella Greatbach, both 11 year olds swimming in the mixed 11/12 age group. They finished 2nd and 3rd fastest 11 year olds in the field. Marcie Aley competed in the 50m and 200m Breaststroke, whilst Finley Petts and Sophie Ball swam the 50m Butterfly, and Collin Okusaga and Sophie O’Rorke competed in the 50m Freestyle. Harry Rose finished as third fastest 11 year old in the mixed 11/12 age group 50m Backstroke.

Well done everyone for stepping up to Regional level and racing against the best swimmers from across the whole East region.

Club Record Breakers

Since January we have had quite a few club records go .....

At County Championships, Nancy Neave and Sophie Clerkin had a great meet breaking the following records:

Nancy -  13/14 50 Fly

Sophie -  11/12 50 Breast, 50 Free and 100 Free.

Sophie then went on to break the girls 11/12 50 Back record at the Sudbury meet in April and Nancy went on to break her own 50 Fly record again at Regionals in May.

Our latest record came from Charlie Boden in the Open Age Group 25m Fly, taking it from a gracious Ben Cox earlier this month.

Well done all 😀
