How to raise a concern and who should I contact?

We do ask that everyone is always mindful, but especially when raising concerns, that this club is run by volunteers and that we do expect everyone to keep their interactions polite and to ensure that everyone is treated with courtesy, dignity and respect. Any concerns surrounding safeguarding or raising a concern or compliant should be made directly to the clubs welfare officer who will provide further support.

BBSC Welfare Officer can be contacted via email on welfare@braintreeswimming.org.uk. BBSC aim to respond to all concerns raised as soon as possible. Welfare concerns can also be raised to Swim England’s Essex County via email on welfare@essexswimming.org. Further to this, Swim England East Region can also offer support and guidance and is contactable via email on eastwelfare@swimming.org or Fran.vesztrocy@swimming.org. Swim Englands team are experienced and knowledgeable in dealing with concerns and are committed to child protection within sport. Further contacts are available by following this link.

Braintree & Bocking Swimming Club follow the Swim England Safeguarding protocol called Wavepower. It is updated on a regular basis to ensure that it remains current and you can view or download the latest version from the Swim England website. Wavepower can also be accessed by following this link.

To support the club and in promoting a safe and secure environment, we have set out expectations of behavioural standards that parents/guardians, swimmers, coaches, volunteers and any other member must adhere to. This is known as the Code of Conduct. Our most up to date Code of Conduct can be found by following this link.

Swimline is the Swim England Helpline. This service is available to anyone who feels the need to raise a concern about a child who may be at risk. Swimline are there to provide support and advice regarding your concerns, and are there for you to contact should you not know who else to turn to. Swimline are contactable on 08081004001.

External supporting partners are also available to provide support and guidance where necessary. Essex County Council provide contact and emergency contact numbers to use if you need to raise a concern. This can be accessed by following this link. Essex Police should be contacted on 999 should you feel there is immediate risk to safety, and 101 if not.
